2019 Cabernet Sauvignon
Classic Bordeaux blend, no barnyard.
Clean, long, and complex, can't be that hard.
Old vines for days, the list will make you cry.
Wanna keep making it just like this until the day I die.
Tasting notes
After the last salmon is caught in Alaska in August I load water, food, dog food, a sleeping bag, trailer spare and jack/tire tool into a Chevy Silverado 3500. As I drive away from my beautiful winery/home I know I will be living in this truck for the next sixty days. From the first Merlot pick to the last Cabernet Sauvignon pick I generally spend several days a week in vineyards and small towns never once seeing the lights of the big city with its music, great food, and fun friends. It is work time. Time to taste every row of grapes in every vineyard with every vineyard manager. Time to make the little critical decisions that make our wine taste different from everyone else’s. Time to wear shades and a big cowboy hat and live on the phone. Time to pass out a few bottles of vino to the old hands who were at these vineyards when I made that wine five years ago. Time to see the sunset and sunrise. Time to feel satisfied that, yes, we are doing it all again, getting a little better every year with a little more experience and knowledge. People always ask me what I taste in the wine. I taste all that. It is etched in my memory. I am lucky. It’s a beautiful wine. Another classic Boudreaux.
